Government HVAC Contracts: The Revenue Most Contractors Never See

There's real, recurring revenue sitting untapped for most HVAC and home service businesses right now: government contracts.

Across federal, state, and local buyers, there are currently around 500 open HVAC-related contracts posted nationwide, with roughly 400 of those added in just the last month. The federal government is also required by law to send at least 23% of prime contract dollars to small businesses — and much of that HVAC work is reserved specifically for small-business and veteran-owned pools, especially on VA and military facilities.

That's steady, recurring work most companies never even see, let alone bid on.

Here's why: government bidding runs on its own set of rules — forms, deadlines, size certifications, NAICS codes, paperwork that has to match the instructions exactly. None of that shows up in a normal day running trucks and jobs. It's not that small companies can't compete. It's that the process itself is unfamiliar enough to turn people off before they ever submit a bid.

This isn't work that competes with what you already run — it's a separate channel sitting next to it, recovering revenue that's there for the taking but currently going to whoever's willing to deal with the paperwork.

Would steady government work be worth learning to navigate the process for?
